Velvet Oud Amber, a warm woody attar

Oud and amber are the two warmest materials in traditional perfumery, and this attar uses both. Amber leads, giving the fragrance its smooth, resinous warmth, and oud sits underneath in a supporting role rather than dominating.

That balance is the point. A straight oud attar is heavy from the first minute. This one carries the same woody character at a level that works through an ordinary day. The oil contains no alcohol and comes in a 6 ml bottle.

Fragrance notes and oil concentration

• Amber as the lead note. Resinous and rounded, and the reason this reads as warm rather than sharp.
• Oud underneath, used sparingly. Present enough to give the fragrance depth, restrained enough not to take it over.
• Two intensities available. The amber-led version sits softer; the oud-led version leads with the wood and settles into the amber.
• Lasts 8 to 12 hours from a single application, though this varies with skin type and climate.
• Alcohol free base. With no alcohol diluting it, the oil stays on the skin instead of evaporating off it, which is why one small drop replaces several sprays.
• One formulation for everyone. Sold as a single unisex oil.
