Velvet Sandal, a sandalwood attar with spice

Sandalwood, or chandan, is the oldest material in Indian perfumery and the base that traditional attars were distilled into for centuries. Velvet Sandal leads on it, with subtle spice notes running alongside.

That makes this the most classical fragrance in the Velvet range. Where the oud attars are resinous and the citrus ones are bright, this one sits in the middle: warm, smooth and familiar.

Fragrance notes and oil concentration

• Sandalwood as the lead note. Creamy and warm rather than sharp, and the reason this reads as traditional rather than modern.
• Subtle spice alongside it. Present enough to keep the sandalwood from being flat, but not enough to make this a spice fragrance.
• Lasts 8 to 12 hours from a single application, though this varies with skin type and climate.
• Alcohol free base. With no alcohol diluting it, the oil stays on the skin instead of evaporating off it, which is why one drop replaces several sprays.
• 6 ml glass bottle with a gold-toned domed cap.
• One formulation for everyone. Sold as a single unisex oil.
